Alumina manufactures viewports in sapphire glass for high voltage applications under vacuum. The main purpose of viewports is to be able to observe the processes taking place within the vacuum chamber. Here too our customers profit from our long years of experience in the design and manufacture of these composite components. Viewports from LAPP Insulators Alumina are available in both a standard range and to
individual customer specification based on intensive collaborative research and development work. In this way we offer a real contribution to the quality and properties of our customers’ products.
Viewports from Alumina Systems are routinely 100% tested to helium leak rates of 10-8 mbarL/s. On request, we can test to 10-9 mbarL/s . The operating temperature range of our vacuum viewports is generally -180°C to 450°C and they are suitable for both high vacuum and high pressure applications. We deploy FEM analysis in the design of these high-spec, certified devices. Alumina has been using the system since 2013. It means that development times can be considerably reduced. Using FEM enables accurate statements to be made about strength characteristics, the likelihood of mechanical failure and the probable product working life. Mechanical optimisation is therefore available from the development phase, leading to savings in time and money. The development time for your product is shortened thanks to optimum design from the outset.
Alumina Systems offers a standard programme of vacuum viewports.
Three designs are available to choose from: with a welded adapters in nickel-iron alloy or with stainless steel flanges in ISO- (KF-flange) or ConFlat (CF-flange) designs. Non-standard lengths and diameters can be supplied on enquiry. All standard range vacuum viewports are available from one-off units upwards in three weeks ex-works.
